Our story

We may not look it, but Pleasant View is almost 150 years old.

In the summer of 1876, Pleasant View Baptist Church was born. Because there was no suitable place to meet, Smyrna Methodist Church offered its brush arbor before we moved to an old log house. Two years later, the church was given two acres of land at the current location. In 1897 our current sanctuary was built.

Pleasant View joined the Carrolton Baptist Association in 1877. The first Sunday School was in 1898. The first gift to the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home was made in 1899. The church bell that sits on the front lawn was purchased in 1921. The first Vacation Bible School was in 1949.

In addition to the Carrolton Baptist Association, we are in fellowship with the Georgia Baptist and the Southern Baptist Conventions. We affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. You can find that here.

A lot has changed over the years, but we still have that same heart as we did in the beginning. Just people, desiring to glorify God, make disciples, and love their neighbors, meeting together.
