New to Faith? We're Here to Help!

Are you ready to take new steps in your spiritual journey? Here are some options we can assist with:

Become a follower of Jesus Christ

You begin to follow Jesus Christ when you yield to him.  God's plan for us is found in the Bible. You decide that you will stop doing life your way and choose to start doing life his way.  Following Jesus begins by recognizing that there is sin in your life. Sins are actions and thoughts that are contrary to God's perfect nature. Then, asking Jesus to forgive you of your sins and for His Spirit to indwell your heart and being to help you start living by God’s freedom in your life. When a person believes in Jesus Christ and asks forgiveness for their sins then they are a follower of Christ and part of His church.

What next?

Begin spending daily time with God: By starting your day in prayer and Bible reading, you can begin growing to know the God who loves you.

  • Growth Groups: Periodic short term Bible study groups that meet on Sunday afternoon or at other times during the week.

Once you have chosen to follow Jesus, the Bible teaches that Baptism is the next step in your new journey.

But why are people baptized?
Jesus Christ commanded that those who have become his followers be baptized. In some of his last words to his followers Jesus said, “…go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit…” Those who have become his followers obey him and are baptized.

Baptism doesn’t make you a follower of Christ – it shows that you have already decided to follow Him.  Baptism does not “save” you, only your trust in Christ does that. Baptism is like a wedding ring – it´s the outward symbol of the commitment you make in your heart.
Is there a deeper meaning to baptism? Yes.  The Bible says that baptism provides a picture of Christ's death burial and resurrection. And demonstrates the death of a person's old life, burial, and re-birth as a child. “For when you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ.” Colossians 2:12.

“When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside. The old life has passed away and a new life has begun!” –2 Corinthians. 5:17

“By our baptism then, we were buried with Him and shared His death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead: so also we may live a new life!” Romans 6:4

Should you be baptized then? Baptism is an important step for every follower of Jesus Christ. If you have become a follower of Christ, but have not been baptized since you decided to follow Him, we invite you to join us for our next Baptism.  Indicate this commitment on a connection card or come forward to share this with the church at the end of one of our worship services.

If you're not sure any of these options are for you, we encourage you to reach out to us with any questions you may have.
